Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 May 2026

Satlaza Pty Ltd trading as Camptoo is an Australian affiliate travel and accommodation booking website. We operate www.camptoo.com.au to help users discover campsites, national parks, outdoor accommodation, and related travel options across Australia.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, what we do not collect, how we use data, and your choices. We are not the direct accommodation provider — bookings may be completed through third-party providers such as Bookeasy or other partners linked from our site.

We may collect personal information when you contact us, interact with our website, click booking links, or use forms on our website.

We use Microsoft Advertising, including Universal Event Tracking, to measure advertising performance and understand actions taken on our website after ad clicks. Microsoft may collect or receive personal data from our website, from us, or from both, to provide Microsoft Advertising services. You can learn more about how Microsoft handles personal data in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), where applicable.

1. Our commitment to your privacy

We collect only what we need to run the website, respond to enquiries, improve our content, and measure advertising performance. We do not sell your personal information. We aim to leave the smallest practical digital footprint while still providing a useful booking and travel planning experience — consistent with our encouragement to travellers to leave no trace in the outdoors.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide directly

  • Contact form: name, email address, subject, and message when you use our contact page.
  • Booking-related details: when you book accommodation through our site, you may enter name, email, phone, address, and stay preferences into the Bookeasy booking widget. That information is processed to complete your reservation (see Section 4).

Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, referring URL, and general location (country/state level) when you browse our site.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: small files stored on your device to remember preferences, measure traffic, and support advertising (see Section 6).

3. Payment and bank details — what we do not store

Camptoo does not collect, process, or store your credit card numbers, debit card numbers, bank account details, or other payment credentials on our servers.

When you pay for accommodation on Camptoo, payment fields are handled by Bookeasy (Impart Media), our secure third-party booking and payment partner. Card and banking information is transmitted directly to Bookeasy using encrypted connections. Camptoo never receives or retains your full payment details. Bookeasy's handling of payment data is governed by their own privacy and security policies.

If you follow affiliate links to third-party rental or travel partners (for example campervan hire providers), any payment you make on those sites is handled entirely by those partners, not by Camptoo.

4. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve our website and services
  • Respond to contact form submissions and customer support enquiries
  • Facilitate accommodation bookings through integrated third-party booking tools
  • Understand how visitors use our site (analytics)
  • Measure and improve the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect against fraud or misuse

5. Third-party services

We use trusted third parties to help run Camptoo. These may receive limited data as needed to perform their services:

  • Bookeasy / Impart Media — accommodation search, cart, checkout, and payment processing
  • Google Tag Manager & analytics tools — website usage measurement (configured via GTM)
  • Microsoft Advertising — conversion tracking and advertising measurement when you arrive via Bing or Microsoft ads (Universal Event Tracking, where enabled)
  • Affiliate partners — such as campervan rental and travel partners linked from our site (see our Affiliate Disclosure)
  • Vercel — website hosting
  • Supabase — database hosting for campsite and accommodation listing data
  • Web3Forms — delivery of contact form messages

Each third party is responsible for its own privacy practices. We encourage you to review their policies before providing personal or payment information on their platforms.

6. Cookies, analytics, and advertising

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, understand traffic patterns, and measure advertising performance. These may include:

  • Essential cookies required for basic site functionality
  • Analytics cookies to understand how visitors use our pages
  • Advertising and remarketing cookies used by our ad partners

Microsoft Advertising: If we use Microsoft Advertising (including Universal Event Tracking), Microsoft may collect or receive personal data from users who visit our site after interacting with our ads, to provide advertising and conversion measurement services. For more information, see the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Where required by law (including for visitors from the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland), we obtain consent before non-essential advertising cookies are placed.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect some site features. Depending on your region, you may also use industry opt-out tools for interest-based advertising.

7. Opt out

You can opt out of marketing messages, targeted advertising based on information we hold, or other non-essential use of your personal data at any time. To request an opt-out — or to ask us to stop using your information for promotional or advertising purposes — please send us an email here. Include the name and email address associated with your request so we can action it promptly. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

Please note that opting out of marketing or advertising cookies does not affect information needed to complete a booking you have already made through Bookeasy; those requests should be directed to the accommodation operator or Bookeasy as applicable.

8. How we share information

We may share personal information:

  • With service providers who assist us (listed in Section 5), under confidentiality obligations
  • With accommodation operators when you complete a booking through Bookeasy
  • When required by law, court order, or to protect our rights and users' safety
  • In connection with a business transfer (merger, acquisition, or sale of assets), with notice where required

We do not sell personal information to data brokers.

9. Data retention

We retain contact form submissions only as long as needed to respond and for reasonable record-keeping. Analytics and advertising data is retained according to our analytics and ad platform settings (typically in aggregated or pseudonymised form). We do not retain payment card or bank details because we do not receive them.

10. Security

We use industry-standard measures including HTTPS encryption across the site. Sensitive payment data is handled by PCI-compliant payment processors, not stored on Camptoo infrastructure. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we work to protect your information but cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your personal information, or to object to certain processing. Australian residents may have rights under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). UK and EEA residents may have additional rights under GDPR.

To exercise your rights, opt out of certain processing, or ask questions about your data, please send us an email here or use our contact page. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

12. Children's privacy

Camptoo is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

13. International visitors

Camptoo is based in Australia. If you access our site from outside Australia, your information may be processed in Australia and in countries where our service providers operate. By using the site, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to jurisdictions with different privacy laws.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

15. Contact us

For privacy questions, requests, complaints, or opt-out requests, send us an email here or visit our contact page. We take privacy seriously and will work with you to resolve concerns promptly.
