Badgerys Lookout, Talong

You won’t find a better view to set up camp, it is simply a stunning free camp. The views are amazing, you look down into Shoalhaven Gorge. There are also some firepits for some awesome campfire yarns and singalongs. There are some toilets and tables which always help. This is one not to be missed. Spectacular views

Gloryvale Reserve, Tibbuc

Gloryvale Reserve offers an awesome spot to put your feet up and enjoy the sunshine. A free camping spot with a clear river. It’s only a short drive out of Gloucester NSW and service toilets.

There are long drop toilets, fire pits and rubbish bins to make your stay a little more comfortable.

Newnes Campground, Wollemi National Park

The Newnes Camp Ground is a very popular free camp so its best to avoid the dates when every family is looking to escape. There are plenty of hiking tracks, old tunnels and interesting mining ruins to have a look at.

There is also a fantastic glow worm tunnel nearby which will have everyone excited.

Fantastic views and an awesome camping spot surrounded by lush bush. There are picnic tables, campfire pits and toilets.

Breti Reserve

Bretti Reserve is another free camp in NSW that offers something for everyone. If you travel there off peak you will have the pick of the spots and there will only be a handful of other campers and there is plenty of rooms to spread out.

It is a great spot by the flowing river and you are surrounded by a beautiful mountainscapes.

DIfferent times of year allow people to try different things at this free camp. If you like heavy rapids you could visit after a big downpour. If you like having a glass of wine and meeting new people visit over a peak period. Photo from Lily who runs MaxandIvy.com

Bretti Reserve offers something for everyone.

Lake Wallace, Wallerawang

This is awesome free camp in NSW and we have the photos to prove it! The free camp has toilets and showers and a great kids playground. Bring a little kayak and go for a paddle or try your luck fishing. Plenty of grassy areas to free camp.

The park has dump point as well and a few showers. It isn’t far from Sydney and worth the journey. Situated in a quiet rural setting next to the now defunct Wallerawang power station. Check out the night sky and thanks to 2lostaussies for the photo, absolutely stunning.

Yarrangobilly Village Campground

Located between Adaminaby and Tumut on the Snowy Mountains Highway you will find this brilliant little free campsite. Think open green grassy sites with picnic tables, fire places and BBQs all bordered by a lovely flowing mountain stream.

The lovely stream is worth a visit

There are a couple of deep holes to throw a line in and the trout go crazy for the local campground crickets. Complete the picture with clean drop toilets and lots of evidence that the wild brumby’s pass through the area and you can see why this place is an absolute winner!

Don’t forget to visit Yarrangobilly Caves and thermal pools which are about 10km from the campsite and note that there is no phone or internet coverage in this neck of the woods so you can REALLY get away from it all. The Nourished Wanderings wrote up this review, follow them for advice on free camps in Australia.

Gwydir River, Bingara

Camping by a river is always pretty awesome, You don’t even need to play your river meditation tapes as you have the running water right on your doorstep. Very relaxing setting and there is also an awesome pie shop in town.

Plenty of bush and scenery

Boyd River Campground

The Boyd River campground offers a perfect free camping spot for a serene little break from it all. There are plenty of activities to partake in as well, plenty of bushwalks, mountain bike tracks and just a bit of peace and quiet really. There are even a few waterfalls nearby.

Plenty of shade is available.

There is usually plenty of room and so many trees that you don’t have to fight for the shady spot. The tall gums provide a peaceful outlook and it is possible just to laze around with friends. This free camp in NSW is a real gem, we hope you enjoy.
